Yellow Mountain

Everything consumed, built and discarded on Huang Shan is carried up the tall peaks by porters.
Every morning, a long parade of hundreds of men slowly crawls up the mountain.
Each man carries 90 kilograms or 198 pounds, several miles with 5000 feet altitude gain.
I counted rice, fresh fish, fruit, beer, linens for the hotels, bricks for construction, furniture, even an oscilliscope for the weather station.

Although there are three modern European built gondolas taking tourists up the mountains,
no supplies may be transported on them.
Blood and sweat is cheaper than grease and gears for the machines.
